La Journée mondiale de l’environnement célébrée aujourd’hui, coïncide cette année avec un moment crucial car les Nations Unies s’apprêtent à lancer leur campagne « Scellons l’Accord » qui a pour but la réussite de la Conférence internationale de Copenhague sur le changement climatique en décembre 2009.
Ce qu’il faut savoir :
La campagne « Scellons l’Accord » encourage les gouvernements à conclure un accord équitable, équilibré et efficace sur le changement climatique lorsqu’ils se
réuniront pour la COP 15, la conférence des Nations Unies sur le changement climatique, qui se tiendra à Copenhague du 7 au 18 décembre 2009 ;
Le site CoolPlanet2009 est la pièce maîtresse de la campagne européenne d’UNRIC (Centre régional d'information des Nations Unies) qui a pour but de susciter intérêt
et implication concernant la question du changement climatique en Europe ;
Le site est né lors d’une conférence des cinq Premiers ministres des pays nordiques au Blue Lagoon en Islande le 27 février 2009. « CoolPlanet2009 » fait partie de la
campagne mondiale « Scellons l’accord » qui a été présentée par le Secrétaire général des Nations Unies Ban Ki-moon et le Président de la Commission européenne
José Manuel BARROSO lors d’une conférence de presse à Bruxelles le 23 avril dernier ;
« CoolPlanet2009 » a joint les forces de plusieurs « Cool Friends » et de partenaires tels que Yann ARTHUS BERTRAND et Good Planet, le groupe de rock islandais
Sigur Ros, l’ONG Náttúra de la chanteuse BJÖRK ainsi que les trois Présidentes de la « Road to Copenhagen », Margot WALLSTRÖM, Vice-présidente de la
Commission européenne, Gro HARLEM BRUNDTLAND, Envoyée spéciale des Nations Unies sur le changement climatique et Mary ROBINSON, ancienne Présidente de
l’Irlande.
